Olive Chapel Baptist Church (OCBC) seeks a part-time Youth Director with a demonstrated passion for fulfilling the Great Commission and ministering to a diverse demographic, without wavering from the truth of the Gospel. OCBC is located in a growing region that is rapidly transforming from its rural agricultural heritage to a culturally and socioeconomically diverse community. OCBC supports missions and evangelism through the Raleigh Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of NC, the Southern Baptist Convention, and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of NC
The ideal candidate will have:
A heart that diligently seeks the Lord through personal Bible study and prayer;
A passion for unifying believers in pursuit of a vision to minister to members, the local community, and the world;
Spiritual gifts in the areas of student ministry, teaching, and evangelism;
Student ministry experience
The part-time Youth Director role will specifically engage youth (grades 7-12) in discipleship, worship, mission, fellowship, evangelism, and relationships. In coordination with the Pastoral Leadership, Church Staff, Church Council, and the Youth Council, the Youth Director will:
Lead weekly Wednesday night youth discipleship
Teach weekly youth Sunday School for grades 7-12
Participate in Sunday morning worship service
Guide Youth Council, parents, and volunteers in planning student ministry events (meets at least quarterly)
Lead retreats, camps, mission projects, and special events that help youth grow in their relationship with Christ and with each other (monthly)
Develop and train volunteers to lead effective youth work
Connect with youth in a way that helps them forge strong bonds with each other, with those working with them, and with God
Create a Youth Ministry annual budget
Welcome rising youth
Build relationships with local Baptist churches for collaborative events
Report on the Youth ministry at OCBC church conference (5-6 times per year)
Attend to other tasks related to youth ministry, as requested.
Time commitment: 20 hours a week on average, with half of the time spent in planning and working with the pastoral leadership team, church staff, and volunteers, and the other half spent in direct engagement with youth.
Preferred Qualifications:
BA (preference for a theological education, working towards or have a seminary degree)
Experience leading and organizing students in a ministry setting
Exemplary Christian model through teaching, discipling, and evangelism
Theology and practice consistent with the Southern Baptist Theology
Compensation: $1,600/month; with a housing package option (fully furnished three bedroom parsonage)
